SIEMENS MAGNETOM CONCERTO 0,2 T.

Specially designed for CLAUSTROPHOBIC patients.

Magnetic Resonance is a medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to generate accurate images of body structures in any plane and with high resolution. Therefore, it does NOT use X-rays, being a safe technique that allows repeated explorations throughout life, without problems. Even in pregnant women over 12 weeks.

However, when using a powerful magnetic field, it cannot be accessed by patients with some non-compatible device such as pacemakers, defibrillators, cochlear implants … Although currently, due to the generalization of these tests, the industry is working successfully, in compatible devices, to that no patient see limited diagnostic tests.

Therefore, before entry, a compatibility and security questionnaire is carried out. There are two main types of equipment, HIGH FIELD, with high resolution and a diameter of 60 or 70cm and LOW FIELD (Open) that, although less powerful, allow this diagnostic test to be performed on patients with claustrophobia.
The equipment when working generates a noise, greater in high-field equipment, for your protection, helmets, plugs and even music are used. Sometimes it is necessary to use intravenous contrast, based on Gadolinium, safe and unrelated to iodine contrast. The risk of allergy is very low. However, it cannot be administered in patients with Severe Renal Failure.

In conclusion, MRI has nowadays become the most advanced and sensitive diagnostic technique in almost all types of pathologies.

How the test is performed

Before entry, in most cases you will be asked to change and put on a gown (to avoid metallic materials and the humidity of your own clothes). Once lying down, a specific antenna will be placed over the area to be explored.
The total duration of the test varies between 20 minutes and 60 minutes (for a cardiac MRI for example), although most examinations do not exceed 30 minutes.

Preparation and advice

The signed consent must be signed, if there are doubts, our staff is at your disposal to resolve them
Initially, you will be asked to remove your watch, chains, rings, and earrings depending on the part to be scanned.
If the MRI is of ORBITAS (eyes) avoid the use of makeup. If the use of contrast is necessary, fasting solids for 4 hours
You must remain very still during the exploration, since the equipment is very sensitive to movements and the image would be artifacted.
